Native Graduate Health Fellowship

The National Congress of American Indians (NCAI) Native Graduate Fellowship aims to address the stark disparities in Native health by building a pipeline of Native health professionals who are prepared to lead in formulating and promoting health policies and practices that meet the unique needs of American Indians and Alaska Natives.

Eligibility 
Applicants should be members of an American Indian or Alaska Native tribal nation and must be new or continuing full-time students in the Fall of 2016 pursuing graduate or professional degrees in any health-related area, including Doctor of Medicine (MD), Master of Nursing (MSN), Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP), Master of Public Health (MPH), Master of Pharmacy (MPharm), etc.

Applications are due via email to Gabriel Pimentel at gpimentel@ncai.org by 11:59 PM Friday, April 1, 2016. A complete application submission must include a personal/education information form, an essay, a resume or curriculum vitae, and two letters of recommendation.

Applicants will be notified of their status by April 30, 2016.

The Department of Psychology at Carnegie Mellon University is pleased to announce an exciting summer research opportunity for undergraduate students:

Research Assistantships for Minority Students (RAMS) @ CMU

This program, funded by the American Psychological Association and Carnegie Mellon University, is designed to provide research opportunities to members of underrepresented groups (e.g., African American, Latino/a, Native American) who may be considering pursuing graduate study in psychology or related fields. RAMS program makes it possible for undergraduate students to spend 6 weeks during the summer in a research laboratory at Carnegie Mellon University. Each student will receive a fellowship stipend of $2,700 for the six-week RAMS program. Apartment-style housing will also be provided. This program supports our commitment to training a diverse set of leaders in the field of psychology and related disciplines. Application deadline is March 7, 2016. More information and application instructions are available here.

Job Posting - Research & Evaluation Specialist with NIWRC

The National Indigenous Women's Resource Center is hiring a Research & Evaluation Specialist

Location: Lame Deer, MT or Tulsa, OK

Scope of Position and Summary:

This position is responsible for developing, coordinating and executing tribally driven research and evaluation projects led by NIWRC; and coordinating and disseminating publications and literature reviews. This position is also responsible for fostering and maintaining collaborative relationships with allied researchers, tribal domestic violence programs, tribal coalitions, and other organizations or agencies including local, regional, state and federal stakeholders. The Research & Evaluation Specialist should be deeply rooted in Indigenous thought and culture and informed by high-quality research and approaches.

Our main office is located in Lame Deer, MT on the Northern Cheyenne Indian Reservation, with a secondary office located in Tulsa, OK. This position can work out of either location.
